Outreach Phlebotomist, 25 hours, Southbridge

Major Responsibilities

• Draws blood specimens following proper procedure.
• Labels all specimens according to policy.
• Transports or prepares for transport all specimens to the laboratory.
• Follows all laboratory and hospital safety rules and universal precautions.
• Maintains appropriate logs or records.
• Participates in the training of new employees.
• Affirms that written physician orders accompany requested tests and ensures diagnosis is present.
• Informs supervisor of any patient or physician concerns for PI trending.
• Maintains an inventory of supplies consistent with usage.
• Covers in all areas of phlebotomy as needed.

Position Qualifications

• All responsibilities are essential job functions.
• Licensed or certified in Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Previous phlebotomy experience preferred.
• Must have reliable transportation and ability to work independently.

Physical Demands And Environmental Conditions

• Work is considered mostly sedentary with frequent standing and bending.
• Regular exposure to blood and body fluids.
• May be required to move/lift objects up to 50 lbs.
• Position requires work indoors in a lab environment.

Qualifications

License/Certification/Education Required: High School Diploma or equivalent. Graduate of a Certificate program in Phlebotomy or Medical Assistant.
