Outreach Fitness Spec -Community Outreach

About the Role

The Fitness Specialist (FS) assists the Community Outreach Department with organizing, implementing, and maintaining wellness activities by utilizing professional knowledge and experience in their field of expertise. The FS regularly participates in and promotes wellness programs with a focus on health promotion, working independently. They enhance their knowledge base by staying current in health information service lines to develop programs tailored to community needs. The FS may transport work-related materials in their personal vehicle to on- and off-site locations and must be able to lift 30-50 pounds as needed.

The Fitness Specialist reports to the Clinical Coordinator.

Responsibilities

• Displays support for organizational decisions in communication and actions.
• Demonstrates openness to and acceptance of changes within the organization.
• Returns emails and phone calls in a timely manner.
• Represents Kettering Health in a positive and professional manner at Community Outreach events.
• Maintains communication with the Program Coordinator and/or Clinical Coordinator regarding abnormal client results, client safety, equipment transport, and event setup/tear down.
• Works regularly, averaging a minimum of 2 shifts per month.
• Reads department minutes and communications.
• Collects testimonials or service recovery potentials at events.
• Actively promotes the Years Ahead program.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum Education: Associate or bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science, Physical Education, or a related field required. If an associate degree only, must additionally have a fitness certification from a nationally recognized organization (e.g., ACSM, NSCA, NASM). Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 3 years of recent experience in community health or social work preferred.
• Experience in planning health promotion programs preferred.
• CPR and first aid certification required.
• ACLS and ACSM certification preferred.
• Ability to work varied hours, including some evenings and weekends.
• Highly motivated and able to work independently.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to function in a team-oriented environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and individuals of varying ages and cultural backgrounds.

Schedule
