Outreach Coordinator, Upward Bound Piner (Student Services Professional III), Fixed-Term
About the role
The Outreach Coordinator, Upward Bound Piner, reports to and under general direction of the Executive Director of Pre-Collegiate Programs and the Assistant Director, TRiO Sonoma-Napa County Programs. They provide comprehensive academic advising services to students and are responsible for case management and outreach services coordination for UB Piner participants. The incumbent works collaboratively with other UB advisors, university staff, faculty, and administrators to support the educational experience of the students/participants.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive academic advising services to students
- Coordinate outreach services including student recruitment, college placement, and school outreach
- Collaborate with other UB advisors, university staff, faculty, and administrators to support the educational experience of the students/participants
- Perform other activities related to student success and academic advising
Requirements
- Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in a related field, including upper division or graduate coursework in counseling techniques, interviewing, and conflict resolution where such are job-related
- Three years of progressively responsible professional student services work experience
- Two years’ experience with TRIO, academic support, or similar programs, including two years’ experience working with low-income, first-generation minority or disadvantaged students
- Demonstrated success in overcoming obstacles similar to that of the target population preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish proficiency highly preferred
- Intermediate proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
- Knowledge of Google Suite, Student Access, and PeopleSoft preferred
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Clinical Psychology, Social Work, or a directly related field may be substituted for one year of work experience
- Knowledge of the position and demonstrated success in overcoming obstacles similar to that of the target population preferred
- Successful completion of a live scan fingerprinting for Sonoma State University, including a live scan fingerprinting at the assigned school site location and TB test

This is a full-time, fixed-term, exempt position. Reappointment to this position is dependent upon the individual's performance as well as administrative and budgetary considerations. The university reserves the right to terminate this appointment earlier than the scheduled expiration date.
