Outreach and Engagement Specialist

About the Role

The Assertive Community Engagement & Success (ACES) program seeks a community engagement and outreach specialist to support the program in building and maintaining strategic relationships with community stakeholders. The goal is to increase awareness of the ACES program, which serves young men ages 16-24 residing in East Harlem or the South Bronx. These young people may face challenging environments and system-involvement but can overcome obstacles through positive relationships and skill-building in life, education, and employment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain partnerships with community-based organizations, schools, and local agencies.
• Serve as the program's representative at community board meetings, resource fairs, and public events.
• Build trust with community members and stakeholders to strengthen referral pipelines.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute community engagement and outreach initiatives, including resource fairs, public events, and partnership-building activities to increase awareness of the ACES program.
• Maintain communication with staff regarding outreach efforts, event participation, and community engagement updates.
• Maintain up-to-date documentation in databases and trackers when necessary.
• Maintain ongoing communication with partners.
• Participate in professional development training to better support the program and participants.
• Support transportation and field-based participation in program activities in accordance with operational needs.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience in community outreach, engagement, or youth services.
• Strong experience and knowledge of local community resources and stakeholder landscape.
• Excellent communication, public speaking, and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, to attend community meetings and events.
• Valid driver's license required, as staff must travel throughout the community, accompany participants to activities, and support outreach efforts in the field.
