Outpatient Therapist PRN

About the role

As a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team at Oceans Behavioral Hospital Lake Charles, our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) therapists provide direct clinical services—including assessments, interventions, treatment planning, and discharge planning—as well as individual, family, and/or group therapy to support patient and family progress. IOP therapists may also facilitate inpatient support when required.

Responsibilities

• Provides direct clinical services in accordance with accepted standards of social/work clinical practice.
• Plans and conducts group therapy as assigned by the Director of Intensive Outpatient Program or physician’s order.
• Conducts, assesses, and interprets completion of Comprehensive Integrated Assessment.
• Reviews all Multidisciplinary assessments and compiles a Multidisciplinary Treatment Plan under the supervision of the attending physician.
• Performs case management and discharge planning as assigned by the Director of Intensive Outpatient Program.
• Attends multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, provides updates on assigned patients, and combines reports into a multidisciplinary treatment integration summary to facilitate progress toward treatment goals.
• Delivers patient services ethically, promoting respect, dignity, and satisfaction while assessing and interpreting patient responses to treatment in an age-, disability-, and culturally sensitive manner.
• Assesses and interprets age, disability, and cultural needs; identifies safety, psychosocial, mobility, and equipment needs; and communicates effectively with patients and families.
• Conducts treatment and discharge planning in accordance with age, disability, and cultural needs, involving the patient’s support system as appropriate.
• Performs other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Active license as a Clinical Social Worker (CSW), LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LPC-A (TX Only), or Psychologist.
• 0 to 1 year of post-graduate experience in clinical practice.

Skills

• Knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age- and disability-related needs of patients served.
• Understanding of growth and development principles for diverse patient populations (adolescent, chronically mentally ill, adult, geriatric, chemically dependent, and dually diagnosed).
• Ability to assess and interpret patient data to identify needs and provide appropriate care, including age-, disability-, and culturally sensitive interventions.
• In-depth knowledge of mental illness, chemical dependency, and family dynamics.
• Proficiency in clinical therapy modalities and excellent communication and group/process skills.
• Strong assessment, intervention, treatment, and discharge planning abilities.
• Versatility, flexibility, and ability to perform in stressful situations.
• Effective time management and organizational skills to coordinate multi-faceted workloads.
• Experience working with individuals with mental and physical disabilities.
• Must complete CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral de-escalation program.

Working Environment

This role is subject to frequent interruptions and occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. The position can be fast-paced and stressful, requiring the ability to cope mentally and physically with the atmosphere.
