Outpatient Therapist PRN

About the role

As a member of the multidisciplinary treatment team at Oceans Behavioral Hospital Biloxi, our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) therapists provide direct clinical services—including assessments, interventions, treatment planning, and discharge planning—as well as individual, family, and/or group therapy to support patient and family progress in treatment. IOP therapists may also facilitate inpatient support as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct clinical services in accordance with accepted standards of social/work clinical practice.
• Plan and conduct group therapy as assigned by the Director of Intensive Outpatient Program or physician’s order.
• Conduct, assess, and interpret completion of Comprehensive Integrated Assessment.
• Review all Multidisciplinary assessments and compile a Multidisciplinary Treatment Plan under the supervision of the attending physician.
• Perform case management and discharge planning as assigned by the Director of Intensive Outpatient Program.
• Attend multidisciplinary treatment team meetings, provide updates on assigned patients and their progress toward treatment goals, and combine reports into a multidisciplinary treatment integration summary.
• Deliver patient services ethically, promoting respect, dignity, and satisfaction while assessing and interpreting patient responses to treatment in an age-, disability-, and culturally sensitive manner.
• Assess and address age, disability, and cultural needs, including safety, psychosocial, mobility, and equipment requirements.
• Conduct treatment and discharge planning in accordance with age, disability, and cultural needs, involving the patient’s support system in decision-making as appropriate.
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Requirements

• Active license as a Clinical Social Worker (CSW), LMSW, LCSW, LMFT, LPC, LPC-A (TX Only), or Psychologist.
• 0 to 1 year of post-graduate experience in clinical practice.

Skills

• Knowledge and skills to provide care appropriate to the age- and disability-related needs of patients served.
• Understanding of growth and development principles for diverse patient populations (adolescent, chronically mentally ill, adult, geriatric, chemically dependent, and dually diagnosed).
• Ability to assess and interpret patient data to identify needs and provide appropriate care, including age-, disability-, and culturally sensitive care.
• In-depth knowledge of mental illness, chemical dependency, and family dynamics.
• Proficiency in clinical therapy modalities and excellent communication and group/process skills tailored to age-specific patient needs.
• Strong assessment, intervention, treatment, and discharge planning skills.
• Ability to pass a general age/disability post-test.
• Versatility, flexibility, and ability to perform in stressful situations.
• Strong time management and organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate a multi-faceted workload.
• Experience working with individuals with mental and physical disabilities.
• Must complete CPR certification and an Oceans-approved behavioral de-escalation program.

Working Environment

This role is subject to frequent interruptions and occasional pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries. The position can be fast-paced and stressful, requiring the ability to cope mentally and physically with the atmosphere.
