Outpatient Therapist / Behavioral Health Licensed Clinical Professional

About the role

We are seeking a positive and personable Licensed Clinical Professional to make a real difference in the lives of people with intellectual, developmental disabilities, and those facing mental health and substance use challenges. This role calls for a licensed professional clinician with direct experience and skill in treating a range of behavioral health issues, including co-occurring disorders such as mental illness, personality disorders, and challenges in primary or secondary support systems.

The position involves active engagement and coordination of care with internal resources (e.g., psychiatry, community support) and external bodies (e.g., legal system, families, social support agencies). You may also provide backup support to the program director or other therapists and serve as an active, positive member of the clinical team. Special skills or work with specific populations may be required based on the setting.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate relationships and serve as a link between the company, parents, guardians, local agencies, and the community.
• Minimize the negative effects of psychiatric symptoms or substance dependence that interfere with daily living and personal development through supportive counseling.
• Support clients in developing skill-building activities, including daily and community living skills, socialization, adaptation, behavior, and anger management.
• Participate in a first-responder on-call system available to consumers and/or their natural support network 24/7/365; coordinate "first response" resources according to consumer need and the Person-Centered Plan (PCP).
• Perform case management functions, including linking and arranging services and referrals.
• Work closely with other clinical/professional staff to maintain communication, provide feedback, standardize procedures, and expedite PCP implementation.
• Ensure all initial and reauthorizations for services occur in a timely fashion.
• Monitor service utilization to ensure it is effective, appropriate, and within the limits set by rules, the PCP, and service authorization.
• Coordinate transitions to another level or type of care for the client.

Requirements

• Graduate degree in Counseling or a related field.
• Valid licensure to provide mental/behavioral healthcare in North Carolina (e.g., LCSWA, LCSW, LCMHC, LMFT).
• Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals with mental and/or behavioral health issues, including writing person-centered plans, conducting effective group therapy, and providing mental health diagnoses.
• General working knowledge of the human services delivery system in North Carolina.
• Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
• Ability to lift between 20 and 50 pounds and meet physical requirements for performing CPR and therapeutic holds.
• Employee supervisory experience preferred.
• Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) preferred.

Pay

Pay range: $48,000–$60,000, based on education and experience.
