About the role
The Pharmacy Technician I is responsible for various pharmacy tasks such as dispensing, preparing, and delivering medications, managing inventory, performing compliance audits, handling financial transactions, and providing customer service. This position also assists in the onboarding and training of new staff under the supervision of Pharmacy Leadership.
Responsibilities
- Selects, packages, and labels medication and supply orders for pharmacist review.
- Processes medication orders accurately, entering patient and insurance information as needed.
- Selects correct drug products, fills prescriptions, and matches labels according to orders.
- Maintains and tracks inventory levels, reporting stock needs and shortages to appropriate personnel.
- Uses medical informatics tools like order-entry systems, automated dispensing devices, and barcode technology to support daily duties.
- Delivers medications, pharmacy products, and services to patients, patient representatives, or care areas in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Required: Maryland Technician Registration or Maryland Pharmacy Intern Certificate/Pharmacy Student Technician Exemption Certificate.
