Outpatient Psychotherapist - LCSW or LCPC

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality individual, couple, family, and/or group therapy focused on the patient's identified diagnosis and needs.
  • Provides crisis intervention to new and current patients as needed.
  • Delivers clinical/therapeutic services to a diverse client population with professionalism.
  • Applies brief therapeutic intervention models as appropriate.
  • Conducts comprehensive assessments, diagnoses, formulates and monitors individualized treatment plans, and implements treatment interventions in accordance with departmental and hospital policies.
  • Provides case management and utilization review services for assigned caseload.
  • Educates patients and families as needed.
  • Makes appropriate referrals to services within the hospital, Aurora Behavioral Health Services, or external providers, ensuring continuity of care in discharge planning.
  • Serves as a liaison with referral sources in coordination with other staff.
  • Actively participates in clinical supervision, peer review activities, and provides consultation to other professionals, including clinical team treatment staffing.
  • Provides community education, outreach, referral development, and marketing efforts to generate new business.
  • Completes all documentation responsibilities accurately and within established timelines, including treatment plans, discharge summaries, aftercare plans, and billing records.
  • Assists in treatment development, innovation, and improvements, and participates in performance improvement activities and care management initiatives.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of patients served, including understanding growth and development over the lifespan.
  • Interprets patient data to identify age-specific needs and provides care accordingly.

Requirements

  • Professional Counselor license issued by the State of Wisconsin or State of Illinois, or
  • Marriage and Family Therapist license issued by the State of Wisconsin or State of Illinois, or
  • Clinical Social Worker license issued by the State of Wisconsin or State of Illinois.
  • Master’s Degree in Social Work, or
  • Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or a related field.
  • Typically requires 1 year of experience in providing therapy in behavioral health.
  • Some positions may require a Master’s Degree in Social Work and a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) license upon hire.
  • Some positions may require one of the following Substance Abuse licenses: Substance Abuse Counselor-In-Training, Substance Abuse Counselor, Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor, or Clinical Supervisor-In-Training.

Skills

  • Skilled as a generalist with one or more specializations in behavioral health and/or substance abuse treatment.
  • Extensive knowledge of theory, practice, and techniques in behavioral health and/or substance abuse treatment services.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to function effectively in a complex mental health delivery system.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Frequently lifts up to 25 lbs. without assistance; occasionally lifts over 25 lbs. with assistance.
  • May be exposed to mechanical, electrical, chemical hazards, as well as blood and body fluids.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist.
  • Must be able to restrain and control patients who are outwardly psychotic or physically combative.
  • Operates all equipment necessary to perform the job.
