About the Role
Outpatient Physical Therapist with an orthopaedic and primary care focus at a Level 1 trauma center and teaching hospital.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate patients to establish treatment goals and develop therapy plans using methods such as exercise, massage, and electrical modalities.
- Apply evaluation techniques to assess functional abilities and adapt therapy methods to individual needs.
- Consult with medical staff and educate patients and caregivers on therapy procedures, equipment, and safety.
- Supervise and mentor students, volunteers, and ancillary staff; delegate treatment responsibilities when appropriate.
- Document patient care activities, process billing, and order supplies/equipment.
- Assess and recommend home modifications, ensure patient safety, and foster effective patient-provider relationships.
- Participate in professional development and adhere to safety protocols.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline.
- New Mexico Physical Therapist License or Temporary License.
- CPR/BLS certification within 30 days of hire.
- Experience in diverse patient populations and bilingual skills are a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy physical work and work in environments with chemical/dangerous materials.
