About the role

Role Overview: This position involves reviewing, interpreting, and dispensing both prescription and non-prescription medications in a retail/community pharmacy or institutional setting. The pharmacist provides expert advice on drug interactions, side effects, dosages, and storage, while counseling patients on proper medication use and monitoring their health response.

Responsibilities

• Ensure medication accuracy and appropriateness based on patient needs.
• Respond to prescription issues and advise healthcare providers on medication selection and management.
• Counsel patients on medication administration, side effects, and storage.
• Monitor patient progress and response to therapy.
• Utilize evolving pharmacy technology and oversee pharmacy support staff.
• Review provider orders, assist in problem-solving, and provide pharmaceutical care, including compounding and working with automated dispensing devices.
• Engage in direct patient interaction or centralized medication dispensing, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Possibly act as shift supervisor, ensuring smooth pharmacy operations.
• Manage medication therapy.

Qualifications & Skills

• Graduate of an accredited School of Pharmacy.
• Thorough knowledge of drugs, their actions, and regulations.
• Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to learn and adapt to new pharmacy technologies.
• Licensure in good standing with the State Board of Pharmacy; multi-state licensure preferred.
• Hospital or residency experience is advantageous.
