The Outpatient Pharmacist – PRN provides comprehensive pharmacy services within the outpatient pharmacy at Tradition Hospital, supporting patients through medication dispensing, prescription fulfillment, and transitions of care. This is a PRN role. A caregiver in this position will work various shifts between 7:30am and 6:00pm and will support PTO coverage. No holiday or weekends expected.

Responsibilities

  • Provide pharmacy services and ensure the appropriate selection, dosing, administration and dispensing of medication orders.
  • Provide safe, efficient, patient-centered and evidence-based medication services.
  • Verify and dispense prescriptions, reviewing medication orders for accuracy and safety.
  • Counsel patients on proper medication use.
  • Collaborate with providers and pharmacy technicians to ensure efficient pharmacy operations.
  • Support bedside medication delivery and discharge prescription services, helping patients receive timely access to medications while promoting safe, effective, and patient-centered care.
  • Verify medication orders and/or dispense medications accurately according to state and federal regulations.
  • Contribute to medication safety initiatives.
  • Document services in a complete, accurate and timely manner.
  • Ensure all pharmacy operations comply with national accreditation standards.
  • Maintain professional interactions with patients to facilitate successful patient experiences.
  • Educate and train students, residents, other caregivers, and/or patients.
  • Be accountable for drug use policy adherence.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PharmD or Bachelor's of Science degree in Pharmacy from an accredited college of Pharmacy
  • Current Florida licensure as a Registered Pharmacist (RPh) or eligible for reciprocation in Florida within 90 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross
  • Completion of a Board of Pharmacy approved course in the administration of immunizations within 90 days of hire, for those administering immunizations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Completion of a Post-Graduate Year 1 Residency (PGY1), fellowship or relevant post-graduate pharmacy experience
  • Post-graduate year 2 residency (PGY2) or relevant experience preferred for Clinical Pharmacists hired in a Specialized Pharmacy practice area
  • Board Certification

Physical Requirements

  • Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing and walking for prolonged times, approximately 75% of shift and continuously for extended periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer and dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Position often includes reaching, stretching, stooping, climbing steps and sitting.
  • Must have normal or corrected vision.
  • Must have ability to clearly communicate verbally by phone or in person
