Outpatient Neuro Occupational Therapist - FLOAT

About the role

As an Occupational Therapist, you will competently interpret patients’ history and baseline level of function, complete assessments, establish and carry out a plan of care, provide patient/family instruction, and coordinate discharge planning. This role helps patients achieve maximum functional outcomes and actively participates in department functions.

Responsibilities

Direct Patient Care (90-100%)

• Evaluate patients after provider referral, assessing motor, cognitive, sensory integrative, and/or psychosocial function.
• Develop and implement a plan of care based on evaluation findings and appropriate treatment techniques.
• Carry out the plan of care with reassessment and adjustments as needed, using occupational performance frameworks (biomechanical, sensorimotor, and/or rehabilitative).
• Maintain department productivity expectations.
• Coordinate discharge planning with the multidisciplinary team, including patient/family instruction, DME recommendations, and communication with physicians, nurses, case managers, and social workers.
• Document evaluations, plans of care, progress toward goals, and discharge plans for the multidisciplinary team and insurance parties.

Indirect Patient Care (1-10%)

• Supervise patient assignments and duties of COTAs and rehabilitation techs.
• Participate in department quality improvement through data collection and team/staff meetings.
• Assume duties delegated by management in their absence.

Education & Mentoring

• Orient new staff members and serve as a clinical instructor for OT and OTA students.
• Educate other disciplines and hospital personnel on OT purpose, goals, and treatment policies.
• Represent the department at problem-solving and committee meetings.

The duties listed are not all-inclusive. Employees are expected to perform other duties as requested by management. As a High Reliability Organization (HRO), responsibilities require focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree (Required).
• BLS - Basic Life Support (American Heart Association).
• State of Ohio Occupational Therapy License.
• Occupational Therapist certification (American Occupational Therapy Association).
• Basic computer skills.

For Home Care department positions only: Valid state driver’s license, minimum 18 years of age, acceptable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR), and proof of insurance if applicable.
