Outpatient Coder II - Full-time, Days

About the role

This position is responsible for accurate coding and reimbursement of complex outpatient encounters, including Observation stays, Same Day Surgery, and outpatient procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assign ICD-10-CM, CPT, and HCPCS codes
• Interpret medical documentation to ensure coding accuracy with a minimum of 95%
• Resolve NCCI edits and utilize coding tools such as 3M Encoder
• Follow ethical and regulatory coding standards
• Review records thoroughly and communicate with physicians for clarification
• Analyze system changes and participate in software testing and optimization
• Adhere to productivity and quality standards
• Participate in process improvements

Requirements

• 3–4 years of acute healthcare coding experience
• RHIT, RHIA, or CCS credentials
• Ability to work independently
• Knowledge of anatomy, disease processes, pharmacology, and coding conventions

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• 4+ years of acute healthcare coding experience
