About the role

Under the direction of the Lead Cardiac Sonographer and Clinical Manager, you ensure that testing procedures are performed according to clinic and department policy and standards. You perform noninvasive examinations involving the application of high frequency ultrasonic waves.

Responsibilities

  • Performs all testing procedures in echocardiography, including diagnostic m-mode, two-dimensional, spectral Doppler, and color Doppler.
  • Performs diagnostic exercise and pharmacological stress echocardiograms.
  • Produces accurate clinical information for use by cardiologists in diagnosing cardiac medical disorders.
  • Responds to Code 99s as required.
  • Troubleshoots technical methods of echocardiography as necessary.
  • Ensures a safe testing environment in all daily operations.
  • Retrieves and sends data utilizing clinical and financial information systems.
  • Understands physician orders and ensures appropriate documentation in the medical record, test reports, and department logbooks according to policy.
  • Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing, to promote teamwork and problem-solving.
  • Adapts to and works effectively in various situations, including with special precautions, disabled, and dialysis patients.
  • Provides explanations of prep for testing procedures and schedules all types of echo tests in both Burlington and Peabody.
  • Complies with all applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and Lahey Clinic policies, including standards of relevant accrediting organizations.
  • Incorporates Lahey Clinic Guiding Principles, Mission Statement, and Goals into daily activities.
  • Participates in departmental and interdepartmental quality improvement activities.
  • Completes mandatory education and maintains educational records for credentialing requirements.
  • Performs all other duties as needed or directed to meet department needs.

Requirements

  • Associate degree and/or graduate of an accredited echocardiography program or relevant clinical experience resulting in registry eligibility.
  • ARDMS/RDCS or CCI/RCS accreditation or accreditation eligible, and current basic life support (BLS) certification.
  • A 1-year grace period may be provided to candidates who completed an accredited echocardiography program and provide documentation of board exam attempts.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in echocardiography.

Skills & Abilities

  • Strong organizational and written/verbal communication skills.
  • In-depth knowledge of cardiac anatomy and ability to apply that knowledge for diagnostic evaluation.
  • Ability to be thoroughly trained to meet organizational standards if lacking any required skills.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $47.00 - $69.84 per hour. Actual compensation is determined based on factors such as seniority, education, training, relevant experience, certifications, geography, job responsibilities, shift differentials, call pay, premium pay, overtime, and other applicable factors.
