About The Opportunity
The Behavioral Health Technician I is a member of the Vail Health Behavioral Health (VHBH) multidisciplinary behavioral health treatment team, assisting with patient care and supporting a therapeutic setting. In addition to direct patient care, this position is responsible for documentation and ensuring all programming is aligned with internal, local, state, federal, and regulatory standards of care and compliance.
What You Will Do
- Assists with patient care including obtaining and recording vital signs, maintaining patient documentation, and completing administrative duties.
- Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with healthcare providers, patients, and staff.
- Fields patient phone calls promptly and professionally.
- Engages in patient communication, education, and support as directed by the healthcare provider or provider team.
- Participates in maintaining the therapeutic setting of the clinical space.
- Safeguards cleanliness, adequate stock of supplies and functioning equipment in patient care areas.
- Replaces supplies depleted on a daily basis.
- Cleans and prepares patient care areas, equipment and tools.
- Completes shift opening and closing procedures.
- Follows established departmental policies and procedures, OSHA Rules and Regulations, environmental and infection control standards.
- Ensures compliance with local, internal, state, federal, and regulatory standards and compliance including quality assurance, safety, infection control, and environmental procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Experience
- Minimum of 6 months of relevant experience of direct patient care or community behavioral health experience or successful completion of Vail Health’s Behavioral Health Technician competencies required.
- Bilingual (Spanish speaking) preferred.
License(s)
- N/A
Certification(s)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
- Nonviolent Crisis Intervention certification from Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) or Therapeutic Options™ training preferred.
Computer / Typing
- Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.
- Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
Education
- High-school diploma or GED required.

Pay
Pay is based upon relevant education and experience per hour. Hourly Pay $22.60 - $29.67 USD.
