Outlying Maintenance Tech 4 $34.65/hr ($5k sign on)

Pinto Valley is an open-pit copper mine located in central Arizona, near Phoenix. Established in 1972, it has produced over four billion pounds of copper. Acquired by Capstone in 2013, the mine is permitted until 2039 and studies are underway to potentially extend its life beyond 2050.

About the role

The role involves working in a team environment to perform maintenance tasks in the field, ensuring safety and adhering to the Capstone Values. The position requires a significant amount of time spent in the mine and surrounding areas.

Responsibilities

• Perform precision measuring tools, basic alignments, and intermediate lubrication tasks.
• Repair bearings and seals, operate hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and weld.
• Work with mechanical drives, contamination control techniques, aerial work platforms, overhead cranes, load securement, conveyor belt maintenance, and trouble-shooting.
• Identify and troubleshoot electrical and mechanical components.
• Operate fuel trucks, HDPE pipe up to 12 inches, and perform LOTOTO procedures.
• Work in various conditions, including hot and cold environments with high humidity.
• Perform tasks requiring lifting up to 100 lbs and working at heights.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Valid Arizona Driver's License.
• Experience in open pit mining, tails, and water sequences preferred.
• Experience in copper operations strongly preferred.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English.
• Physical ability to stand, walk, lift, and work in various conditions.

Qualifications

• Preferred previous experience in safety-sensitive environments like construction, farming, delivery, or transportation.
• Pre-employment medical exam, drug and alcohol test, and background check required.
• Pre-placement physical examination to ensure 'fit for duty' status.

Skills

• Knowledge of open pit mining, tails, and water sequences.
• Basic understanding of electrical and mechanical components.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
• Strong problem-solving skills.
