Outdoor Program - Rental Center Specialist Equipment

Job Summary/Basic Function

The OP Rental Center Specialist – Equipment will be responsible for managing and maintaining equipment fleets at the OP Rental Center. Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Researching and implementing best practices related to gear maintenance
  • Aiding with the preparation and management of the annual gear sale
  • Aiding with the bi-annual inventory process
  • Developing potential training/skill workshops for rental technicians
  • Providing general instructions on the use of outdoor equipment to staff or customers
  • Helping to improve efficiency and effectiveness at the program by taking initiative in improving the program through presentations and project implementation

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive knowledge of outdoor equipment and its use
  • Experience maintaining and repairing a variety of outdoor equipment
  • Familiarity with the OP Rental Shop policies and procedures
  • American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers and standard First Aid Certifications
  • Ability to work on independent projects and take initiative
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities
  • Ability to stand or be on your feet for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work in hot, cold, and/or wet conditions
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and relational service skills

  • Repetitive motion. Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers

Physical Requirements of this position

  • Light work. Exerting up to 20 lbs of force occasionally and/or up to 10 lbs of force frequently and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
  • Moderate work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.

Visual Acuity Requirements including color, depth perception and field of vision

  • Required to have close visual acuity to inspect small defects, small parts at distances close to the eye
  • Required to have visual acuity to perform activities such as: operating machines, (i.e. lathes, drill presses, power saws) where the job is at or within arm’s reach; skilled trades tasks of a non-repetitive nature, such as carpenter, plumber, mechanic
  • Required to have visual acuity to determine the accuracy, neatness, and thoroughness of the work assigned (i.e., custodial, food services,) or to make general observations of facilities or structures (i.e., security guard, inspection)
