Outbound Supervisor
Duties and Responsibilities
Ensure the integrity of orders through meeting customer performance standards; ensure customer-specific shipping requirements are met; investigate to resolve any issues to ensure minimal recourse.
Provide supervision of warehouse/distribution activities to include one or more of the following: receiving, storing, order assembly, packaging, testing, inventory control and shipment of goods or materials; monitor bill of lading compliance.
Monitor and track towards achievement of key performance indicators (safety, damages, inventory, order fulfillment accuracy, and productivity).
Cook up timely equipment and staffing needs to ensure timely and accurate picking, assembly, packaging, and/or loading of product or materials for shipment.
Maintain warehouse/distribution safety and security programs and activities.
Avoid assisting in the preparation of correspondence, reports, operations, maintenance, and safety manuals.
Coordinate timely equipment and staffing needs to ensure timely and accurate picking, assembly, packaging, and/or loading of product or materials for shipment.
Routinely perform physical inventory counts or as deemed appropriate.
Monitor the pickup, delivery, and/or distribution of products or materials; may ensure shipments are picked up on time to meet delivery expectations through continuous communication with customers and third party transports.
Serve as an internal resource for users of the Warehouse Management System (WMS) as appropriate; may ensure the system is maintained and users are properly trained.
Maintain expenditures; may assist in the preparation and management of the annual budget.
Review work orders, invoices, reports, and/or demand forecast; estimate peak delivery periods and issue work assignments.
May routinely inspect the physical condition of the warehouse(s), vehicle fleet, and/or equipment; order testing, maintenance, repairs, and/or replacements as necessary.
Supervise the day-to-day activities of the assigned warehouse/distribution team. Provide leadership and direction to members of the department, performing those responsibilities in accordance with the established policies and applicable laws.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: High School Diploma or completion of GED equivalent. Post-secondary education preferred.
Minimum Work Experience: Three (3) years of warehouse or distribution experience facilitating high-volume order processing.
Licenses/Certifications: Valid licensure/certificate to operate a forklift.
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities: Knowledge of widely accepted and general warehouse/distribution management standards. Proficiency using simple mathematics. Strong knowledge of OSHA workplace safety standards. Proficiency using a Personal Computer (PC) to include Microsoft Word and Excel. Proficiency using a Warehouse Management System (WMS). Good communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate in English both verbally and in writing. Leadership skills and the ability to lead a diverse team of coworkers. Critical thinking skills and the ability to be a problem solver. Good customer service skills and the ability to put the customer/consumer first. Ability to maintain regular and predictable attendance. Ability to work in a constant state of alertness.
