About the role
As a Substance Use Counselor, you will assist patients through medically assisted programs and provide techniques for managing opioid addiction. You will conduct group and individual sessions focused on crisis management and coping strategies, evaluate patient progress, and collaborate with doctors, nurses, and therapists to ensure the best overall treatment outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Conduct individual initial assessment and evaluation interviews to determine service eligibility
- Facilitate, establish, and review initial treatment plans with each patient
- Complete biopsychosocial assessments
- Provide individual and group counseling services at regularly scheduled intervals
- Coordinate all services throughout treatment
- Involve families and significant others in the patient’s recovery process whenever possible
- Respond to patient grievances and complaints as needed
- Develop aftercare and discharge plans
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum of 1 year of individual counseling experience, or
- Master’s Degree in Behavioral Science with a minimum of 1 year of individual counseling experience, or
- Associate’s Degree or High School Diploma with a current certification and 1 year of supervision (certifications include CAC, CADC, CADC II, or Massachusetts state LADC II)
- Previous experience working with chemically dependent individuals is a plus
- Must demonstrate a positive, non-judgmental, and accepting attitude toward our patient population
- Satisfactory criminal background check and drug screen
Pay
Salary ranges from $26.50 to $29.32 an hour, based on experience, education, specialty, and training.
