Essential Functions
- Maintains and evaluates medical condition of patient and under the supervision of a physician and in collaboration with other disciplines and standards of care or applying appropriate protocols, makes decisions regarding treatment changes.
- Determines and assesses the health status of patients by reviewing records, taking comprehensive medical histories, and performing physical examinations.
- Performs appropriate indicated procedures as part of patient evaluation and treatment.
- Orders and administers appropriate medications within the limits of the appropriate statutory limitations or refers patient to a caregiver in a specialty area.
- Initiates, performs or directs other healthcare professionals to perform screenings and diagnostic tests.
- Completes required documentation legibly, thoroughly and in a timely manner. Prepares and maintains complete and accurate charts, case files and records.
- Participates in clinical education of healthcare students as seen fit by the supervising medical staff.
- May be assigned to perform lead work and/or involvement in clinical coordination, health station management or responsibility for special projects which may encompass protocol development, management planning, scheduling and other administrative tasks as necessary to support practice environment.
- Attends and participates in administrative staff meetings. Utilizes the principles and practices of effective communication to elicit information, negotiate problem resolution, and/or garner support for various programs or policies.
- Follows established departmental policies and procedures, quality improvement, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Education
Master's Degree Required
Work Experience
1-3 years related clinical experience preferred
Licenses
- BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association or American Red Cross Required
- COLORADO NP or PA license - Required
Knowledge, Skills And Abilities
- Knowledge of medical principals and procedures.
- Knowledge of community resources for appropriate procedures.
- Skill in eliciting history from patients, performing physical exams and formulating assessments of and treatment plans for patients.
- Ordering appropriate diagnostic studies to aid in diagnosis.
- Knowledge of appropriate administration and prescription of medications.
- Skill in utilizing the principles and practices of effective and persuasive communication to elicit information, negotiate problem resolution, and/or garner support for various programs or policies.
- Skill in obtaining information from patients, calming and reassuring patients and motivating patients to accept treatments.
- Ability to exercise initiative and judgment in selecting proper treatment.
- Ability to respond appropriately in emergency situations.
- Ability to prepare accurate reports.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other departments and the public.
- Computer skills required.
