Job Duties

  • Obtain detailed history and perform physical examinations.
  • Perform, order, and interpret diagnostic procedures in accordance with relevant health concerns of the patient.
  • Prescribes appropriate pharmacological and non-pharmacological treatments.
  • Maintain records and write orders and progress notes in patient charts as to status, treatments, and procedures.
  • Makes sure records are accurate and up-to-date in patient medical records.
  • Provides follow-up health maintenance care to patients in accordance with protocols established with the supervising physician.
  • Communicates with physicians, patients, and the family members of patients concerning patient care.
  • Follows up on diagnostics and other studies ordered; communicates these findings with patients and other relevant providers to ensure an appropriate care plan is in place.
  • Performs flexible laryngoscopy and rigid nasal endoscopy on patients as indicated (instruction on mastering this skill to be provided by supervising physicians).
  • Performs basic clinic procedures such as cerumen debridement, microscopic ear examination, skin biopsy, oral cavity biopsy, etc.
  • Aids in maintaining a head and neck cancer registry to ensure timely and appropriate care of head and neck cancer patients in the practice.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education Required: Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies. Bachelor's degree in Physician Assistant Studies accepted based on terminal degree requirements at time of graduation.
  • Certification/Licenses/Registration: Current license as a Physician Assistant by the State of Texas Physician Assistant Board. Specialty certification as required by department. Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • Experience Required: Inpatient Experience Preferred.
