Business Segment Overview

  • Commercial: With boots-on-the-ground authenticity at the heart of everything we do, our comprehensive array of commercial products and services enables you to work directly with our clients, across hedging, risk management, execution and clearing, OTC products, commodity finance, and more.

Job Purpose

This is a front-office Trade & Product Support role within the OTC Trading business, based in Chicago and working directly alongside our trading desks. The successful candidate will develop a practical understanding of OTC product structures, trading workflows, and lifecycle events across our Agricultural, Energy, and FX product sets, and will provide the day-to-day support that keeps the desks running accurately and efficiently. The role forms part of a globally coordinated OTC support function, working closely with colleagues in London and across Operations, Risk, Technology, and Compliance. This is a strong platform for someone early in their career to build genuine expertise in OTC product mechanics and risk.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front-office trade and product support to OTC traders across Agricultural, Energy, and FX products, working closely with the wider global OTC support team.

  • Develop a practical understanding of OTC product structures, trading workflows, and lifecycle events, and apply it to resolving day-to-day desk queries.

  • Support traders with product setup, trade booking, workflow queries, and operational issues, ensuring trades are captured accurately and on time.

  • Daily checking of Murex statements for the market-making accounts, confirming that day trades, open positions, and P&L are accurate, and support reconciliation across the relevant systems and official books and records.

  • Aid the trading desks in monitoring their foreign exchange exposure.

  • Liaise with broker groups, Risk, Operations, Accounting, Clearing, and Compliance to investigate and resolve trade and product issues.

  • Identify recurring issues, control gaps, or workflow inefficiencies, and support improvements to coverage, process, and escalation.

  • Contribute to new-product implementation and testing, and support the coordination of approved products across Trading, Risk, Operations, Technology, and Compliance.

  • Support the expansion of trade support coverage across new products and business lines, including the build-out into Energy and FX.

  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and reduce manual effort, including through the use of new tools and technology.

  • Author and maintain clear trade support and workflow documentation.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge & Experience: 1-3 years experience in financial markets—such as OTC or listed trade support, middle office, product control, or a front-office-facing operations role. Strong recent graduates and interns will be considered. Some exposure to financial futures and options, or to OTC derivatives across FX, Energy, and/or Agricultural asset classes, is preferable. An awareness of the trade lifecycle and how trades flow through booking, risk, and settlement systems is advantageous. Comfortable analyzing data in Excel; exposure to Murex, SQL, or other trading/booking platforms is a bonus.

  • Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (in progress or completed) in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar discipline.

Hiring

To land this role, you will need: Strong analytical and problem-solving ability, with a curious mindset and a genuine willingness to learn new products, systems, and business areas. Solid work ethic and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced, evolving front-office environment. Excellent written and verbal communication and strong interpersonal skills, with the confidence to gather business requirements and work directly with traders and support functions. High attention to detail while maintaining awareness of the wider business context. Self-sufficient, proactive, and team-oriented, with a “gets things done” approach and creative approaches to day-to-day problem solving.
