Department Job Description Summary
The CWOCN certification is required for this position. This role involves providing pre-operative and post-operative education to patients and their families, managing and assessing stoma complications, educating patients on ostomy care products, developing individualized care plans, collaborating with healthcare teams, conducting follow-up visits, offering psychological and emotional support, and maintaining accurate patient records.
Position Responsibilities
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative education to patients and their families.
- Perform stoma site marking and assessment.
- Manage and assess stoma complications and provide appropriate interventions.
- Provide wound care and skin care around the stoma site.
- Educate patients on ostomy care products and their proper usage.
- Develop individualized care plans for patients with ostomies.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
- Conduct routine follow-up visits with patients to monitor progress and address concerns.
- Offer psychological and emotional support to patients adjusting to life with an ostomy.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records.
Qualifications
- Current licensure in the State of Florida.
- CWOCN certification required.
- Bachelor's Degree in Nursing required.
- Minimum two years of clinical nursing experience.
- Previous experience working in a surgical or medical-surgical nursing unit.
