Osteopathic Principles and Practice Clinical Faculty - College of Medicine

Osteopathic Principles and Practice Clinical Faculty are well versed and experienced in all phases of Osteopathic Medicine and have achieved a specific level of expertise.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an instructor and table trainer in the OPP course
• Serve as an instructor in the Clinical Examination course
• Serve as a Problem Based Learning Facilitator, on an as-needed basis
• Assist in Simulation Lab supervision on an as-needed basis
• Prepare course syllabus in detail, including all assignments, readings for laboratory exercises, and examinations
• Interview prospective candidates for the College of Medicine (COM)
• Serve on Committees, as assigned, and as Advisor to assigned students and at least one club
• Provide, at minimum, two scholarly activities or research projects yearly
• Prepare educational tools (A/V, demonstration models, lectures, lesson plans, etc.)
• Prepare demonstrations, lectures, small group discussions, and select suggested and required reading from various sources
• Coordinate educational tools with other faculty members
• Prepare evaluation tools to assess students' work and identify areas of weakness
• Attend "Team" meetings approved by COM that require advancement of your profession
• Take direction and receive assignments from the Associate Dean of Preclinical Education
• Contribute to overall student success, including advising and student outcomes
• Contribute directly to the Mission of LECOM by assisting with Institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction
• Participate in scholarly activity to enrich and broaden the student learning experience
• Represent LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including serving on Boards and participating in community fundraisers
• Be available for work during assigned hours for student instruction and clinic development
• Accept other duties assigned for the Institution's needs

Requirements

• Adhere to the AOA code of ethics
• Knowledge of general medical coding and related information in the field
• Compliance with State and Federal Regulations and Safety Protocols at the clinic level
• Knowledge of student and patient privacy (e.g., FERPA, HIPAA)
• Follow proper OSHA and safety guidelines
• Protect equipment (office, facility, etc.)
• Strong communication skills and computer literacy (MS Office Suite: Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
• Accurate data entry skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Accuracy and attention to detail
• Trained and certified on the Institutional Data System
• Maintain an established work schedule
• Effectively use interpersonal and communications skills, including tact and diplomacy
• Effectively use organizational and planning skills, including attention to detail and follow-through
• Assess and prioritize multiple tasks, projects, and demands
• Maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials
• Establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Flexibility to accept other duties as needed for clinic needs
• Ability to work cooperatively and collegially with others, consistent with a workplace of dignity and respect
• Ability to report to work as scheduled, ready to devote full attention and energy to the work of LECOM
• Ability to accept work directives from managers and supervisors in a respectful and cooperative manner

Qualifications

• D.O. degree required
• Teaching experience in academia with two to five (2-5) years or more of experience practicing preferred
• Special certification in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine is not essential; individual faculty review sessions available upon request
• Pennsylvania medical license or the ability to obtain one
