Osteopathic Principles and Practice Clinical Faculty - College of Medicine

Job Summary

Osteopathic Principles and Practice Clinical Faculty are expected to have a deep understanding and practical experience in osteopathic medicine. Responsibilities include teaching in the Osteopathic Principles and Practices course, serving as a table trainer and lecturer, and participating in various committees.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an instructor and table trainer in the OPP course
• Serve as an instructor in the Clinical Examination course
• Serve as a Problem Based Learning Facilitator, as needed
• Auxiliary supervision in the Simulation Lab, as needed
• Create detailed course syllabi, including assignments, readings, and examinations
• Interview prospective candidates for the College of Medicine (COM)
• Participate on committees, as assigned and as Advisor to assigned students and at least one club
• Contribute to scholarly activities and research projects, at least two per year
• Prepare educational tools such as A/V, demonstration models, lectures, lesson plans, etc.
• Prepare evaluations to assess students' work and identify areas needing improvement
• Attend relevant meetings and workshops organized by COM
• Follow directions and assignments from the Director of OMM or Vice President of LECOM at Seton Hill
• Ensure overall student success, including advising and monitoring student outcomes
• Engage in institutional fundraising and scholarship auctions
• Participate in scholarly activities to enrich the student learning experience
• Represent LECOM in the community through involvement in boards, fundraisers, and outreach
• Be available during assigned work hours for student instruction and clinic development
• Accept other duties assigned for the institution's needs

Minimum Requirements

• D.O. degree required; teaching experience in academia with two to five (2-5) years' or more of experience practicing preferred
• Knowledge of general medical coding and related information in the field
• Compliance with State and Federal Regulations and Safety Protocols, at the clinic level
• Knowledge of student and patient's privacy (i.e. FERPA, HIPAA.etc.)
• Strong communications skills, computer literacy (MS Office Suite), and accurate data entry skills
• Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships
• Flexibility to accept additional duties needed for the clinic
• Ability to work cooperatively and collegially with others, consistent with workplace policies
• Ability to report to work as scheduled, ready to devote full attention and energy to work
• Ability to accept work directives from managers and supervisors respectfully and cooperatively

Education and Experience Equivalent To

• D.O. degree required
• Two to five (2-5) years' or more of teaching experience in academia
• Special certification in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine is not essential, but individual faculty review sessions will be available upon request
• The successful candidate must have a Pennsylvania medical license or the ability to obtain one
