Osteopathic Principles and Practice Clinical Faculty - College of Medicine

Job Summary

Osteopathic Principles and Practice Clinical Faculty are expected to have extensive experience in osteopathic medicine and possess a high level of expertise. Responsibilities include teaching in the Osteopathic Principles and Practices course as a table trainer and delivering lecture presentations to osteopathic medical students.

Responsibilities

• Serve as an instructor and table trainer in the OPP course
• Serve as an instructor in the Clinical Examination course
• Serve as a Problem Based Learning Facilitator, as needed
• Aid in Simulation Lab supervision, as needed
• Prepare detailed course syllabi, including assignments, readings, and examinations
• Interview prospective candidates for the College of Medicine (COM)
• Participate on committees, as assigned and as advisor to assigned students and at least one club
• Contribute to scholarly activities and research projects, at least two per year
• Create educational tools such as A/V, demonstration models, lectures, lesson plans, etc.
• Prepare evaluation tools to assess student work and identify areas of weakness
• Attend relevant team meetings, as approved by COM
• Follow directions and assignments from the Associate Dean of Preclinical Education
• Ensure overall student success, including advising and student outcomes
• Contribute to the mission of LECOM by assisting with institutional fundraising and participating in the LECOM Scholarship Auction
• Engage in scholarly activity to enrich and broaden the student learning experience
• Represent LECOM by being actively involved in the community, including serving on boards, participating in community fundraisers, and outreach
• Be available for work during assigned hours, for student instruction and clinic development
• Accept other duties assigned/needed for the institution's needs

Minimum Requirements

• D.O. degree required
• Teaching experience in academia with 2-5 years or more of experience practicing preferred
• Special certification in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine is not essential and individual faculty review sessions will be available upon request
• The successful candidate must have a Pennsylvania medical license or the ability to obtain one
