OSP Field Supervisor - Brookfield, WI

About the role

Accurate and safe construction of Metronet’s network to our standards is vital to our success. The OSP Field Supervisor is on the frontline, ensuring construction is built safely and to the required standards and specifications. This role involves multiple responsibilities, including acting as an inspector, investigator, leader, and manager of aerial and underground construction crews, as well as serving as an ambassador to resolve community complaints.

Responsibilities

• Maintain understanding of Metronet’s specifications, standard practices, and safety
• Conduct walkouts and inspect aerial fiber cable placement on poles and splice points, as well as underground placement of conduit and handholes for quality and correct installation per Metronet’s technical specifications
• Approve all unitized completed aerial work done to Metronet’s standards
• Manage the OSP Construction Tracker
• Monitor the approved budget for each assigned work order
• Respond to utility strikes, conduct investigations, and complete documentation within 24 hours
• Conduct retraining of contractors or terminate them if necessary
• Perform weekly audits for each contractor on safety, construction, and quality practices
• Identify contractor training needs and arrange for necessary training
• Ensure aerial line contractors hold weekly safety and communications tailgate meetings with employees, and assist in scheduling periodic damage prevention tailgates in the language employees are most fluent

Requirements

• A High School Diploma or GED; or three (3) to five (5) years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Related quality control and/or outside aerial plant construction experience
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a deadline-driven environment
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
• Works well under pressure
• Capable of walking long distances, including on uneven or less-than-ideal ground conditions daily with contractors
• Ability to work in all temperatures, climates, and weather conditions while maintaining safe work zone practices
• Excellent communication and diplomacy skills
• Committed to and driven by quality and safety
• Ability to distinguish between general audience information and confidential information, maintaining confidentiality at all times
• Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize urgent tasks
• Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (no DUIs or serious traffic violations)

Pay

$40,000 - $75,000 based on experience
