Responsibilities
- Apply hands-on patient clinical care (fitting and applying orthoses)
- Perform physical assessments and orthotic requirement evaluations
- Verify prescriptions and documentation
- Consult with and/or refer patients to other healthcare professionals
- Make adjustments to accommodate individual anatomical contours
- Provide patient education and instruction
- Ensure compliance with practice management plans
- Develop and document policies and procedures for patient well-being
- Adhere to applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations
- Follow patient care guidelines and procedures
- Maintain a safe and professional environment for patient care
- Understand and apply insurance guidelines and verification processes
- Submit insurance prior authorizations to the Billing Department
- Perform ICD-10 coding
- Manage spinal and cervical brace inventory at Johnson City Medical Center, Franklin Woods Community Hospital, and Laughlin Memorial Hospital
- Create and maintain Continuum facility tickets and clinical documentation for billing readiness
- Coordinate with future expansion and upgrade of Continuum into new facilities
- Confirm all Spinal Program delivery tickets
- Maintain positive working relationships with all team members
- Train team members on all aspects of orthotic devices
- Conduct quarterly in-services with team members and physicians
- Coordinate care and services with Acute Inpatient Therapy department
- Manage stock and fitting responsibilities with Central Supply Services and Excel Consulting
- Coordinate with ordering physicians for managing Spinal Program
- Schedule Spinal Program on-call responsibilities for Johnson City Medical Center and Franklin Woods Community Hospital
- Report directly to the Director of Orthopedic Services
- Manage facility billing for all unbillable orthotic services
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Orthotics and Prosthetics or related field
- Current certification from a recognized orthotic training program
- At least 2 years of experience in orthotic fitting and application
- Strong knowledge of ICD-10 coding and insurance processes
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in Brightree patient entry system
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Experience with inventory management and reporting
- Knowledge of spinal and cervical brace management
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
