Position Overview

This position supports orthopedic total joint surgeons and includes a blend of outpatient clinic, inpatient rounding, and operating room responsibilities. The APP serves as an integral member of the orthopedic team, providing comprehensive care throughout the surgical journey, from pre-operative evaluation through post-operative recovery.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care in outpatient clinic, inpatient, and operating room settings
  • Aid with pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative patient management
  • Serve as first assistant in the operating room as appropriate
  • Conduct patient evaluations, post-operative follow-up visits, and care coordination
  • Manage inpatient consultations, rounding, and discharge planning
  • Collaborate closely with orthopedic surgeons, nursing staff, rehabilitation teams, and care coordinators
  • Educate patients and families regarding surgical procedures, recovery expectations, and treatment plans
  • Maintain high standards of quality, safety, and patient experience
  • Participate in shared call coverage, including weekends and holidays

Candidate Qualifications

  • Prior orthopedic, surgical, or total joint experience preferred
  • Active North Carolina licensure as a Physician Assistant
  • Must possess or be eligible for DEA licensure
  • Graduation from an accredited Physician Assistant program required
  • NCCPA certification (PA) required
  • Strong clinical, communication, and collaborative skills

  • Monday–Friday schedule, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
