Maintained Duties
- Assists orthopedic specialists with casts, splints, and braces, crucial for patient recovery and comfort.
- Prepares patients, educates on device care, and ensures comfort during applications/removals, while maintaining equipment and documenting interactions.
- Maintains hospital standards of zero tolerance for mislabeled specimens and collects laboratory specimens according to hospital protocol.
- Assists the nurse/physician during examinations, treatments and procedures as requested.
- Retrieves necessary equipment and supplies.
- Performs follow-up actions as directed.
- Documents clinically relevant findings in the patient's record according to hospital protocols and clinical protocols.
- Makes sure patient vital signs, weight, positioning, ADL's I&O activity and blood glucose readings per RN instructions, hospital protocols, and standards of care are monitored and recorded.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or G.E.D. and a graduate of a Medical Assistant Program or completion of an U.S. Armed Forces medical services training program. Candidates who completed a program prior to February 2, 2000 can satisfy the minimum education requirements by providing evidence of direct supervision by the same physician, physician group, or physician assistant for a minimum of 2000 hours to satisfy the education requirements.
- Six (6) months related experience as an Orthopedic Tech casting, splinting and bracing.
- Demonstrated experience with computer programs utilized for checking-in and scheduling patients required.
- American Heart Association BLS certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous MA experience.
- Electronic Medical Record (EMR) experience.
- Previous experience in designated specialty.
- Bilingual skills.
