About the Role
The Orthopedic Technician supports patient care by applying and removing casts, splints, and orthopedic devices, assisting with traction equipment, and preparing patients for procedures. This role also manages orthopedic equipment, performs basic clinical tasks such as suture and staple removal, and supports inventory control and patient transportation.
Responsibilities
- Apply, adjust, and remove splints, casts, braces, and related orthopedic devices using specialized tools and equipment, including cast cutters, spreaders, bending irons, Zimmer frames, traction carts, fracture tables, and Stryker frames.
- Fabricate casts using materials such as plaster of Paris, fiberglass resin, polyethylene, cotton, and stockinet.
- Assemble, set, and regulate traction units and other specialized orthopedic devices as directed by physicians or residents.
- Remove sutures and staples in accordance with clinical guidelines.
- Fit, adjust, and educate patients on the proper use of medical equipment such as crutches, walkers, and braces.
- Maintain, stock, and manage orthopedic supplies and equipment, including assigned clinical areas and orthopedic traction carts.
- Review and monitor inventory to ensure availability of appropriate, safe, and state-of-the-art orthopedic equipment for all patient populations.
- Communicate courteously and effectively with patients, visitors, and healthcare staff, exchanging routine clinical information and escalating sensitive matters as appropriate.
- Perform related duties as required or assigned, utilizing basic analytical skills and working knowledge of splinting and bracing practices.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Certification as an Orthopaedic Technician/Technologist required
EPIC experience preferred

Pay
Pay Rate: $31.00 - $33.00 Per hour (Based on Experience)
Schedule
8:00 AM - 4:30 PM or 8:30 AM - 5:00 PM
