Orthopedic Surgical Technologist

Responsibilities

• Aid in the opening of the operating room (OR) and prepare for assigned cases.
• Scrub on surgical procedures as assigned.
• Anticipate the needs of the physician and ensure equipment, medical gases, and supplies are readily available for all procedures.
• Maintain sterile techniques during operative procedures.
• Identify and address deviations from sterile technique and report as necessary.
• Prepare for the next day's cases and stock ORs, ensuring adequate supplies and medical gases are available according to the weekly caseload.
• Perform other responsibilities as needed or assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• College degree preferred.
• OR experience required.
• Two years of hospital OR experience desired.
• Surgical Technologist certification required.
• Ability to scrub all types of cases preferred.
• Effective communication skills with providers, patients, and peers.

Other Information

• The position involves long periods of standing.
• The ability to lift up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 40 pounds occasionally is required.
• Daily use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is necessary.
