About the role
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Orthodontic Assistant to join our dynamic dental team. The ideal candidate will play a vital role in providing exceptional patient care and support to our orthodontists in a pediatric dentistry setting. This position requires a strong understanding of dental terminology, infection control protocols, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist orthodontists during various procedures, including the placement and adjustment of braces and other orthodontic appliances.
- Prepare and maintain the treatment area, ensuring all instruments and materials are sterile and ready for use.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices and care for orthodontic appliances.
- Take medical imaging as required, ensuring high-quality images for accurate diagnosis.
- Maintain patient records using dental software such as Dentrix or Eaglesoft, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure smooth clinic operations and excellent patient experiences.
- Monitor inventory levels of dental supplies and assist in ordering when necessary.
Requirements
- Previous experience as an Orthodontic Assistant or in a similar role within a dental clinic is preferred.
- Familiarity with dental terminology and procedures, particularly in orthodontics and pediatric dentistry.
- Knowledge of infection control practices in a clinical setting is essential.
- Proficiency in using dental software such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is advantageous.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact positively with patients of all ages.
- Ability to work well under pressure while maintaining attention to detail.
- A commitment to providing compassionate patient care and maintaining confidentiality according to HIPAA standards.
