Job Description
The General Surgeon is responsible for performing surgeries, as directed by the Orthopedic Department Medical Director. Principle Duties And Responsibilities:
- Performs surgeries and manages the surgical team
- Performs procedures, diagnostic procedures, and therapeutic procedures within scope of practice
- Develops preoperative, intraoperative ad postoperative plans including obtaining patient history, ordering lab tests and diagnostic studies, and making referrals
- Discusses surgery results with patients and medical staff
- Examines patients to make diagnoses and treat illnesses and injuries
- Fulfills all medical laws, guidelines, regulations and standards
- Continually researches and adopts new technologies
- Affirms complete and proper charting is completed in a timely manner
- Performs other duties as assigned

Physical/Mental/Environmental Requirements
- Able to stand, walk, bend, reach, and stretch frequently and for prolonged periods of time
- Possess physical agility and adequate reaction time to respond quickly and appropriately to unexpected patient care needs
- Needs adequate hearing and visual acuity, including adequate color vision
- Requires fine motor skills, adequate eye-hand coordination, and ability to grasp and handle objects
- Able to use proper body mechanics to assist patients in ambulating, transferring in and out of bed, chair or wheelchair
- May be required to lift up to 75 pounds
- Requires ability to communicate effectively through reading, writing, and speaking in person or on telephone
- May require periodic use of personal computer
