About the role

As a WoesteLand guide, you will become part of a fun, friendly, and educational organisation. You will build a network of people involved with nature, including young people, forest rangers, organic farmers, and other nature managers.

What you will do

As a WoesteLand Guide, you have two main tasks:

• Organising nature holidays. Together with rotating teams of guides, you will select a nature area, contact the manager, devise a fun and varied programme, and arrange logistics, shopping, budgeting, and promotion. You will receive internal training to prepare and you will work as part of a team.
• Supervising during the trip. You will provide explanations about the environment and nature conservation work, and ensure safety. You will also prepare tasty organic, vegetarian food and drinks with the participants, build campfires, and organise fun activities during the holiday.

Requirements

• You are between 19 and 27 years old.
• You enjoy being in nature and want to take other young people into nature.
• You are willing to follow our fun and intensive training programme for new guides.
• After completing the training, you remain active for WoesteLand for at least one year. This means you organise and supervise at least one holiday weekend or week per year and attend our internal weekends.

Guiding is voluntary, so you will not be paid. However, you will have no costs for the camps you supervise and internal activities; preparation costs are also fully covered.

About WoesteLand

WoesteLand is the youth organisation of IVN Natuureducatie, the largest nature education organisation in the Netherlands. WoesteLand organises multi-day active holidays for and by young people. During these activities, we always go into nature. We often collaborate with Natuurmonumenten and Staatsbosbeheer, but sometimes also with the Landschappen, a foreign nature organisation, a private nature manager, or an organic farmer. The work we do is necessary to maintain and restore nature. In this way, we help biodiversity and bring young people into contact with the most beautiful nature areas in the Netherlands and Europe. WoesteLand is a youth organisation that relies almost entirely on enthusiastic young volunteers. To continue organising many more great nature holidays in the coming years, WoesteLand is looking for new camp guides.

View the training programme and then fill in the registration form on the WoesteLand website. We look forward to meeting you at one of the (post-summer) activities for an introductory meeting. In that meeting, we will see if there is a good fit and if mutual expectations align. If so, you will go through the training to become a WoesteLand guide with us.
