ORGANIC AGRICULTURE SPECIALIST

About the role

This position will provide organic garden-grown vegetables and fresh fruit for the estate. He/She will be part of a close-knit team comprising the Chef, Landscape Superintendent, and Estate Manager to ensure year-round availability of seasonal, high-quality, nutrient-dense organic produce.

Responsibilities

- Manage and coordinate all garden operations of an existing two-acre private garden on a private estate. - Work with the head Chef and the family's preferences to determine which crops to plant and in what quantities. - Responsible for managing the planting and harvesting schedules and their execution with the required assistants and/or interns to run a successful garden.

Requirements

- Local Florida applicants are preferred but not required. Must be willing to relocate to the Tampa Bay, FL area. - Three years of experience in organic agriculture. - Hands-on position. Preparation of the soil, planting, and harvesting experience required. - Good planning skills. Garden planning/layout or similar. - Experience growing food in a warm climate. - Greenhouse experience is a plus. - Familiarity with organic growing methods like Demeter, Biodynamic, Organic Natural Korean farming, and others. - Good communication skills and ability to work with a team. - Basic maintenance skills to fix irrigation or perform minor repairs to infrastructure and tools. - A willingness to learn and be open to new ideas. - Background check - required due to the nature of the job, working in someone's personal estate.

Pay

Hourly, varies DOE, $22.00 - $32.00
