Organ Recovery Surgeon - Traveling - Nationwide

About the role

Support and lead the Vituity HEART Thoracic Donor Organ Transplant Recovery Program, coordinating with medical and administrative teams to ensure successful procurement of donor Heart and Lung grafts for thoracic transplantation.

Responsibilities

• Organize and conduct organ recovery activities.
• Ensure compliance with laws and regulations.
• Facilitate quality assurance and performance measurement.
• Assist in inspections and promote safety standards.
• Collaborate with teams to optimize financial and operational efficiency.
• Provide training for staff.
• Participate in hospital committees related to thoracic transplant issues.

Key Duties

• Organize and lead organ recovery efforts for thoracic transplants.
• Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and accreditation standards.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to improve quality and efficiency.
• Train clinical staff and ensure organ procurement procedures are performed by qualified surgeons.
• Participate in quality assurance, safety, and hospital committees.

Qualifications & Skills

• Board Certified/Eligible Thoracic Surgeon with valid medical license in the US.
• Minimum of 7 years’ thoracic transplant experience, including pre- and post-operative care for at least 10-20 transplants.
• Formal training or extensive experience in thoracic transplantation required.
• Ongoing professional development through CMEs.
• Experience in UNOS-approved transplant programs.
• Familiarity with ISHLT, UNOS, and OPO regulations.
