Orderly/Transporter (Full-Time) - Ambulatory Surgery Center

About the role

The orderly provides routine housekeeping and environmental sanitation in our Surgi-centers. You will also assist with inventory control, materials management, and the transportation of patients.

Responsibilities

• Maintain knowledge of infection control and basic sterile technique
• Maintain the supply of linens and empty hampers as needed
• Setup and break down ORs as necessary
• Collaborate with the circulating nurses to assist with patient flow
• Take patients from pre-op to OR, and to post-op, and attach appropriate apparatuses
• Report patient observations to the nurses
• Exercise basic knowledge of patient body mechanics during positioning
• Auxiliary in the setup of the OR (switching foot pedals, setting up the scope, etc…)
• Transport patients to their cars via wheelchair during discharge

Requirements

• BCLS preferred
• High school diploma required
• Prior hospital or surgicenter experience
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• You are a team player who works well with a team and independently

Qualifications

We are looking for someone who is comfortable providing the highest level of care to our patients, and who is flexible and able to work multiple shifts.

Skills

Basic knowledge of patient body mechanics during positioning, and auxiliary in the setup of the OR (switching foot pedals, setting up the scope, etc…).
