Operating Room Support – American Fork Hospital

Pay

• Orderly: $17.32 - $22.51/hour (depending on experience)
• Orderly-Senior: $17.86 - $23.21/hour (depending on experience)

Schedule

• Full-time, 36 hours/week
• 3×12-hour shifts/week
• Monday–Friday with on-call and weekend requirements

Responsibilities

• Apply and maintain sterile technique
• Retrieve and restock supplies as needed
• Assist with room turnover: clean after cases and prepare for next cases
• Assist anesthesia with equipment turnover and other needs
• Maintain department cleanliness, including uncluttered hallways and proper storage of supplies/equipment
• Transport patients to and from surgery
• Transport specimens, including blood and blood products

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers
• Orderly-Senior only: Pass Basic Aseptic Technique class (required within 90 days of hire or transfer)

• Pass Basic Aseptic Technique class

Physical Requirements

• Ongoing need to see and read information, labels, sterile indicator tags, colors; assess patient needs; operate monitors; identify equipment and supplies
• Frequent verbal communication with care providers, patients, and visitors; ability to hear and understand spoken information, alarms, and needs quickly and accurately, especially during emergencies
• Manual dexterity to manipulate complex and delicate equipment, including computer use, typing, medication preparation, etc.
• Lift and utilize full range of movement to transfer patients; bend to retrieve, lift, and carry supplies and equipment of varying weights, including heavy items
• Walk and assist with transporting/ambulating patients; push/pull gurneys and portable equipment, including heavy items; navigate crowded and busy rooms with equipment and power cords
• Stand in a stationary position with personal protective equipment for extended periods
