Order Selector, Distribution Center
About the role
Whole Foods Market is seeking Full Time Order Selectors for its Distribution Center located in the Pullman District of Chicago, IL. This is a perishable distribution center handling products such as floral, meat, and produce. The temperature range within the facility varies from -10 (freezer) to 46 degrees.
Responsibilities
- Use voice-based order system to select and palletize store orders
- Manually stack product onto pallets, wrap, and prepare product for shipment
- Operate an electric/motorized ride-on standing pallet jack (single or double)
- Absorb and comply with all Good Organics compliance when stacking product
- Clean the warehouse, maintain a safe working environment
- Communicate and maintain employee safety and security standards
- Arrive to work on time, wear appropriate PPE, work all scheduled shifts, complete required trainings, and attend required meetings
- Perform other duties as assigned by Team Leader, Associate Team Leader, Facility Leadership
Qualifications
- Experience working with an electric/motorized ride-on standing pallet jack (single or double)
- Experience with voice systems a plus
- Team-player with a positive attitude
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines
- Able to work well with others, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with little supervision
Skills/Requirements and Professional Knowledge
- Ability to read and speak basic English
- Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach with or without reasonable accommodation
- Ability to lift 50 lbs, occasionally lift up to 70 lbs (team lift suggested for weights in excess of 70 lbs)
- Work in a cold/wet storage facility environment (ranging from -10 (freezer) to 55 degrees Fahrenheit)
- General warehouse temperatures range from 34-46 degrees, Freezer -10 degrees
- Ability to use tools and equipment, including safety box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and voice equipment
- Adhere to company dress code and use of personal protective equipment (PPE)
Pay and Benefits
Base Pay: see bottom of page for wage range
Incentives: $200 8 Week training completion bonus! $1000 milestone bonus! $500 @ 6 and 12 months $840 a month potential based on productivity and accuracy
Schedule
Shift: 11:00 AM shift start time, will work to completion, and have a rotating 4-day/ 10-hour workweeks including weekends and holidays. Schedules are subject to change (provided 3 weeks in advance)
Availability Requirements
Average shifts are 8-10 hours long. Ability to work a rotating schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. May require the use of ladders.
