Order Picker, Distribution Center
About the role
Whole Foods Market is seeking Full Time Order Selectors for their Distribution Center in Cheshire, CT. This is a Perishable Distribution Center handling Floral, Meat, and Produce products. Temperatures range from -10 (Freezer) to 46 degrees (including a banana and avocado ripening room).
Responsibilities
- Use voice-based order system to select and palletize store orders.
- Manually stack product onto pallets, wrap, and prepare product for shipment.
- Respect all Good Organics compliance when stacking product.
- Operate an electric/motorized ride-on standing pallet jack (either single or double).
- Absorb and assist in cleaning the warehouse, maintaining a safe working environment.
- Communicate and maintain employee safety and security standards.
- Arrive to work on time, wear appropriate PPE, work all scheduled shifts, complete required trainings, and attend required meetings.
- Able to read and speak basic English.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Team Leader, Associate Team Leader, Facility Leadership.
Qualifications
- Experience working with an electric/motorized ride-on standing pallet jack (either single or double).
- Experience with voice systems a plus.
- Team-player with a positive attitude.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Able to work well with others, self-motivated, and capable of working independently with little supervision.
Skills/Requirements
- Ability to stand or walk at least 10 hours, and be able to frequently push, pull, squat, bend, and reach with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs, occasionally lift up to 70 lbs (team lift suggested for weights in excess of 70 lbs).
- Work in a cold/wet storage facility environment (ranging from -10 (freezer) to 55 degrees Fahrenheit).
- General warehouse temps 34-46 degrees, Freezer -10 degrees.
- Regularly get on and off powered equipment, step on and off throughout shift.
- Hand use: single grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling.
- Use tools and equipment, including safety box cutters, electric pallet jacks, and voice equipment.
- Adhere to company dress code and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
Shift Details
Shift: 1:00 PM shift start time, will work to completion, and have a rotating 4-day/10-hour workweeks including weekends and holidays. Schedules are subject to change (provided 3 weeks in advance).
Pay and Benefits
- Base Pay: $21.50 an hour PLUS Incentives: $200 8 Week training completion bonus! $1000 milestone bonus! $500 @ 6 and 12 months $800 a month potential based on productivity and accuracy.
- The wage range for this position is $18.00-$33.66 Hourly, commensurate with experience.
