Job Description
Job Title: Warehouse Worker
Department: Warehouse
FLSA: Non-Exempt
Primary Duties And Responsibilities
- Correct selection of products identified by slot number and description over a headset.
- If using headset, must also identify back the verification digit to confirm correct slot selection.
- Products will weigh from 5 to 70 lbs each.
- Proper stacking of merchandise on pallet to prevent damaged merchandise.
- Production quantities within expected warehouse standards (95%).
- Direct loading of pallets onto trailers.
- Proper operation of equipment so as not to damage equipment or property or to create a safety hazard to employee or others working around employee.
- Reports to work when scheduled and on time.
Secondary Duties And Responsibilities
- Cleaning of warehouse when needed.
- Recouping of salvageable merchandise.
- Other duties might include quality control checking, checking out-of-stock merchandise, inspections.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, And Worker Characteristics
- Must have the ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions;
- Deal with a few concrete variables;
- Understand and follow verbal or demonstrated instructions;
- Write identifying information;
- Request supplies orally or in writing.
Education And Experience
- High school or equivalent work experience;
- No experience necessary.
Physical Requirements
- Must have the ability to perform repetitive lifting and heavy work:
- Exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, and 25-50 pounds of force frequently and/or 10-20 pounds of force constantly to lift and place objects.
- Repetitively lift boxes of a variety of shapes and weights.
- Take and pass warehouse fitness test, drug screen and hearing test.
- Must have clarity of vision at distance of less than 20 inches and up to 20 feet with or without correction, depth perception, color vision, and field of vision.
- Must be able to hear in both ears well enough to maintain safety-hearing co-worker horn or shout of warning; must be able to maintain hearing well enough to wear headset covering one ear and still maintain hearing for safety in the other ear.
- Parameters of hearing according to Vocollect technologies standards for safe operation of headset.
- Must be able to perform the following physical activities:
- Climbing, stooping, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, fingering, grasping, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions.
Working Conditions
- The duties of this position are performed in a warehouse setting.
- There is exposure to noise, dust, dirt and equipment including batteries.
- Significant pressure to meet deadlines and handle multiple tasks in a day.
- Some employees could work or be asked to sub in a refrigerated warehouse—temperatures will vary from -15 to 50 degrees.
- Equipment used to perform job includes double pallet jack, time and scanning clocks, may use a forklift, stock picker, single pallet jack, cleaning materials such as broom and shovel.
