Responsibilities
- Experience operating the AMI M217 and the Polysoude P4-4 orbital welding machines.
- Ability to develop orbital weld programs for thin wall tubes.
- Working in a spacecraft building clean room environment.
- Maintain clean and efficient workspace.
- Experience in the use of tools for visual weld inspection.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, Outlook, and MS Teams.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to help design and test space components, ensuring they meet technical specifications and mission requirements.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine welding and fabrication requirements.
- Utilize engineering principles to analyze and solve welding-related problems.
- Operate and maintain orbital welding equipment ensuring they are in optimal condition.
- Conduct visual inspections of welded joints to ensure they meet strict quality standards and comply with space industry regulations.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance welding and fabrication processes, efficiency, and quality.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean, organized work environment.
Requirements
- Operator will be required to achieve defect-free X-ray quality welds working to AWS D17.1 specifications.
- Technical training or certification in welding preferred.
- No degree is also applicable with years of experience.
- Minimum of 2-5 years of orbital welding experience, with a focus on aerospace or space industry components.
- Ability to read and interpret complex technical drawings and specifications.
- Welding materials commonly used in aerospace applications, such as Titanium Ti-6Al-4V, Aluminum 6061, 316L Stainless Steel, and Inconel Alloy 625.
- Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
