About the role
As an Oral Surgery Dental Assistant at Ideal Dental, you will play a key role in delivering exceptional care and support to both our patients and dental team. Responsibilities
- Prepare and sterilize surgical instruments, materials, and equipment.
- Prepare patients for surgery, including applying topical anesthetics and explaining the procedure to help them feel at ease.
- Provide "chairside" assistance to the oral surgeon, anticipating their needs and efficiently passing instruments.
- Maintain a clear surgical field using suction hoses and other equipment.
- Monitor patient vital signs (e.g., blood pressure, heart rate) and anesthesia levels.
- Provide patients with detailed post-operative instructions for managing pain, preventing infection, and promoting healing.
- Clean and disinfect the operating room and instruments after the procedure.
- Schedule follow-up appointments and handle other administrative tasks as needed.
- Monitor and replenish surgical supplies and inventory.
- Operate X-ray and 3D scanning equipment to take and process dental radiographs.
- Greet guests with a smile.
- Assist Oral Surgeons with procedures.
- Assist with conscious and iv sedation.
- Perform X-rays.
- Chart existing and recommended treatments.
- Perform other duties as required to support the office and oral surgery team.
Requirements
- Active Registered Dental Assistant License.
- Current CPR certification.
- Minimum of 1 year of specific oral surgery experience.
- Willingness to travel within assigned areas.
Qualifications
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to maintain a sterile environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office.
