About the role
We are seeking an Oral Surgeon to join our team to provide comprehensive oral surgical care to pediatric patients. This individual will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of care for patients undergoing oral surgical procedures.
Responsibilities
- Perform a wide range of oral surgical procedures on pediatric patients, including but not limited to: extractions, corrective jaw surgery, implant placement, oral pathology treatment.
- Collaborate with pediatric dentists, orthodontists, otolaryngologists, plastic surgeons, and other specialists to develop comprehensive treatment plans for patients.
- Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, including patient evaluation, consultation, and follow-up appointments. Participate in hospital rounds, conferences, and meetings to discuss patient cases and treatment strategies with colleagues.
- Actively contribute to the education and training of dental residents, medical students, and other healthcare professionals through lectures, clinical demonstrations, and mentorship.
- Engage in scholarly activities, including research projects, publications, and presentations at national conferences, to advance the field of pediatric oral surgery.
- Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, as well as professional standards and guidelines, to ensure patient safety and quality of care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and clinical outcomes in electronic medical records.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.
- Certificate of completion from an accredited oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program.
- Board certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS).
- Valid state dental license and ability to obtain medical licensure in Ohio.
- Excellent clinical skills and knowledge of current oral surgical techniques, technologies, and best practices in pediatric care.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and communicate complex medical information to patients and their families.
- Minimum of three years of post-residency experience in pediatric oral and maxillofacial surgery preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise in managing complex pediatric oral surgical cases, including trauma, congenital anomalies, and dental infections.
- Proven track record of academic and professional achievement, including publications, presentations, and active involvement in professional organizations.
