Oral Surgeon
Position Summary
The Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon (OMFS) supports Willamette Dental Group’s evidence based treatment philosophy, mission, vision and core values by diagnosing and treating diseases that involve the head, face, jaw, neck and sinuses. The OMFS performs various procedures including extracting teeth, performing biopsies, bone grafts, sinus surgeries, supporting orthodontic treatment, and periprosthetic surgery. They provide anesthesia services ranging from local to general.
Essential Position Functions
- Embody Willamette Dental Group’s treatment philosophy, mission and values and ensure they are portrayed throughout the practice.
- Work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, at the highest available scope of licensure per the applicable state’s Dental Practice Act.
- Serve as a resource for other practitioners in the company regarding the management of medically complex and surgically complex patients.
- Assist with coordinating multiple schedules during the work day ensuring patients have appropriate access to care, that the patient’s experience is exceptional, and that tomorrow’s work is done today, when appropriate.
- Ensure quality care and adherence to the company treatment philosophy: reviewing data from the dashboard, specialty referrals, EV Report and be counseled as needed.
- Adhere to the criteria of the office strategic goals, the economic value report of their offices and themselves: Press Ganey, and access.
- Embrace Press Ganey and patient transparency with the patient experience being foremost.
- Obtain and maintain Nitrous Oxide credentials and/or other forms of sedation.
- Strict adherence to OSHA and blood borne pathogens policies.
- Follow the FDA and ALARA principle guidelines when taking intra-oral and panoramic radiographs.
- Diagnose and treat dental issues related to disease, malformations and injuries and develop individualized treatment plans for such.
- Strict adherence to Willamette Dental Group’s Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policy. This includes but is not limited to the use of N95 respirators and other PPE as required by regulatory bodies and company policy.
Education and Experience
- Degree as a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD), Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), and/or Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS). Successful completion of a traditional pre doctoral dentistry program and valid licensure in the specific state(s) where practicing.
Licenses, Certifications and Registrations
- Licensed as a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) or Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS). Licensed as a Doctor of Medicine (MD), when applicable. DEA registration. Maintenance of BLS certification. Actively seeking or has achieved board certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. At a minimum, will maintain state board’s equivalent of a minimal sedation permit. Will maintain appropriate certifications to support the provider’s anesthesia permit (ie, ACLS, PALS).

Paid Time Off (PTO)
- Accrual of a minimum of 120 PTO hours per employment year in addition to seven paid holidays annually.
Physical Requirements
- The work is primarily performed while sitting and/or standing, but will require occasional walking, bending, stooping and carrying light items such as papers, books, or other supplies.
- The incumbent uses a computer and other standard office equipment to complete tasks.
