About the role

The Department of Administrative Services is seeking an experienced Oracle Database Administrator (Information Systems Specialist 8) to join the Middleware team within Data Center Services. This role involves maintaining IT systems that provide critical services to state agencies.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and resolve complex issues in the AIX environment.
  • Onboard customers into the AIX (Oracle and DB2) environment.
  • Provide expert-level support to customers.
  • Coordinate solutions across multiple agencies and entities.
  • Identify and automate processes and procedures for on-premise and cloud solutions.
  • Architect the database environment to meet the needs of both DCS and its customers.
  • Participate in disaster recovery planning and implementation processes for Oracle services.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) years of information systems experience in Oracle database administration.
  • An Associate's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field, or completion of a two (2) year accredited vocational training program in information technology or related field.
  • Five (5) years of information systems experience in Oracle database administration.
  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or three (3) years of information systems experience in Oracle database administration.
  • A Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or one (1) year of information systems experience in Oracle database administration.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skill and experience managing Oracle databases on multiple platforms and environments.
  • Experience with, exposure to, or willingness to learn to manage DB2 databases on multiple platforms and environments.
  • Familiarity with AIX on IBM Power Systems and/or Unix-based operating environment.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Shell, Python, or Perl for automating tasks.
  • Experience with automation tools to streamline database management.
  • Strong customer service skills.
  • Expert level experience in IT incident response, problem analysis, investigation, and root cause analysis.

Pay

The salary range for this position is $7,807 - $11,823 per month.

Schedule

The position is eligible for hybrid work, with in-office work required weekly.
