Oracle Database Administrator
About the role
We are seeking a highly skilled Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) with extensive experience managing enterprise Oracle database environments. The ideal candidate will possess deep expertise in Oracle database modernization initiatives, including upgrades, migrations, high availability, disaster recovery, security compliance, and performance optimization.
Responsibilities
Lead Oracle Database upgrade initiatives to Oracle 19c, including assessments, planning, testing, implementation, validation, and rollback strategies.
Plan and execute Oracle database migrations from AIX to Linux platforms utilizing RMAN, Data Pump, and other migration methodologies.
Manage Oracle Data Guard and Data Guard Broker environments, ensuring high availability, disaster recovery readiness, and successful failover/switchover operations.
Conduct database security assessments using Oracle DBSAT, identify vulnerabilities, and implement remediation plans to meet compliance requirements.
Utilize Oracle Autonomous Health Framework (AHF), including ORAchk, EXAchk, and Trace File Analyzer, for proactive monitoring, diagnostics, and root cause analysis.
Support Oracle Identity Management integrations, user authentication, authorization, provisioning, and access governance processes.
Perform database administration activities including installation, configuration, patching, backup and recovery, cloning, refreshes, monitoring, and performance tuning.
Lead database decommissioning and retirement efforts, ensuring data archival, dependency validation, compliance adherence, and proper documentation.
Collaborate with application, infrastructure, security, storage, and network teams to deliver database-related projects and operational support.
Develop and maintain implementation plans, technical runbooks, operational procedures, risk assessments, and knowledge transfer documentation.
Requirements
8+ years of hands-on Oracle Database Administration experience supporting enterprise environments.
Strong expertise with Oracle Database versions 11g, 12c, 18c, and 19c.
Proven experience performing Oracle 19c upgrades using AutoUpgrade, DBUA, and manual upgrade methodologies.
Extensive knowledge of Oracle Data Guard and Data Guard Broker administration for business continuity and disaster recovery.
Experience conducting Oracle Database Security Assessment Tool (DBSAT) reviews and implementing security hardening recommendations.
Hands-on experience with Oracle Autonomous Health Framework (AHF), including ORAchk, EXAchk, and Trace File Analyzer.
Strong knowledge of RMAN backup and recovery, database cloning, SQL tuning, performance optimization, Oracle networking, and listener administration.
Working knowledge of Linux and AIX operating systems, shell scripting, storage architecture, and infrastructure dependencies.
Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues, perform root cause analysis, and drive resolutions in high-pressure environments.
Preferred Qualifications
Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or equivalent Oracle database certification.
Experience supporting large-scale enterprise Oracle database environments across production and non-production landscapes.
Background working within highly regulated environments requiring audit readiness, security compliance, and structured change management.
Experience with Oracle RAC, Grid Infrastructure, ASM, Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM), GoldenGate, or cloud-based database deployments.
Familiarity with cloud migration strategies involving Oracle workloads on AWS, Azure, or Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI).
Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills with the ability to provide executive-level updates.
