About the role
The Project Buyer is responsible for sourcing, supplier management, and procurement activities supporting new product development and engineering projects. This role partners closely with Engineering, Quality, Operations, and Supply Chain teams to identify and qualify suppliers, negotiate contracts, manage purchasing activities, and drive cost-saving initiatives while ensuring materials and services meet project timelines, quality standards, and business objectives.
Responsibilities
- Identify and qualify suppliers, negotiate contracts, and manage purchasing activities
- Support supplier onboarding and make-versus-buy decisions
- Drive cost-saving initiatives and ensure compliance with project timelines and quality standards
- Manage procurement-related change management activities
- Support technical sourcing activities in a manufacturing or engineering environment
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or related field, or equivalent experience
- 3+ years of purchasing, sourcing, procurement, or buyer experience
- Strong SAP or ERP/MRP system experience
- Experience negotiating supplier agreements and managing vendor relationships
- Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
Qualifications
- 5+ years of procurement or strategic sourcing experience
- Manufacturing, medical device, or engineering industry experience
- Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) projects
- Experience conducting supplier cost analysis and make-versus-buy evaluations
